COMMANDER’S CORNER

I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to Eddie Armour, Ernest Gilliam and Bob Lewis for the fine job and all the work they accomplished in the Rec. Area. Not only did they rebuild housing for our Bar BQ area, but also have completed our new picnic tables. We shall certainly enjoy them in the coming years.

At this time of year we shall be getting involved in the Holiday Season. We hope all Legionnaires, SALs and Auxiliary members will help in the collection of goods (non perishable). Cash will be accepted in the project for our annual Xmas baskets to the needy.

We need for all Legionnaires to renew their membership. Let us all do our part in securing at least "1" new member. We have a lot to offer for the price of membership in Post 95 of East Ridge.

For God and Country.

Merry Christmas.

Ken Wild, Commander

MEMBERSHIP REPORT

Post 95 needs 430 members to reach our goal of 1367 for 1999. Look at your mailing label on this letter. If the line above your name begins with

TN8 and then the computer indicates you have not paid your dues. To help your Post reach an all time for 17 consecutive years and you haven’t renewed, write your membership number on your $21 check and mail it to your Post Adjutant. Our post should be proud of having 16 consecutive years of "an all time high." No other post in Tennessee can come close to claiming this distinction.

New key cards will be issued on January 1, 1999. Members unpaid for 1999 will be unable to participate in any post function until 1999 dues are paid.

Carl Athearn, Adjutant, 867-7644

Cathy Brown, Asst. Adjutant 165-1610

FOOD FOR THE NEEDY

There will be a barrel in the lounge in which to place non perishable food items to be added to the food that had already been donated for the food baskets for the less fortunate. Please help us fill the barrel and several more!

A special thanks to Indian Trace Golf Course of Chatsworth, GA. Several members from the Post enjoyed a day of golf and refreshments compliments of Charles and his staff. This was their way of saying thanks to approximately 150 veterans who participated.

HONOR GUARD

Many thanks to our Honor Guard. Cathy Brown, James McDonald, Bob Klenk, Avery Keesee and I gave up seeing the last half of the Tennessee-Kentucky and showed up at our Post to march and carry the Colors representing Post 95 in the Christmas parade. We got a good hand. It looked like a large crowd attended.

Ralph C. Wilson
Honor Guard Commander
