VA HOSPITAL CHANGES are questioned by Charles "Speedy" Bearden (right) when hospital director John Dandridge attended the Mar. 19 Chattanooga Area Veterans Council meeting at Post 95.  On the table is a proposal to shift some services between the Murfreesboro and the Nashville hospitals.  At the table are CAVC Chairman Milton Thomas, state VA Commissioner Fred Tucker and CAVC First Vice Chairman Ernest Seagle.

COMMANDER’S CORNER

As we enter into the month of April, we must be aware of the third Friday of the month. We shall be having the nomination of officers of Post 95 American Legion for the coming year of 1999-2000. Anyone considering being a candidate should have his or her papers on file. This is a very important time for our program as a large part of leaders are WWII veterans and we now need to train younger and more aggressive leadership to handle the everyday workings of our Post. Please give careful consideration to the Legionnaires you choose. Anyone who has not paid his or her dues needs to get on board and be a part of this great organization. For God and Country

Ken Wild, Commander

MEMBERSHIP REPORT

Our membership is now 1,259. That means we are 98 short of our goal of 1,367.  We have two months to get those members either to renew or sign up new members to reach our goal and once again stand tall in membership recruiting as it will be the 17th straight year that Post 95 has reached an all time high in membership. No other post in the state of Tennessee can claim that honor so help your post reach our goal.

Carl Athearn, Adjutant 867-7644

Cathy Brown, Asst. Adjutant 266-1610

HONOR GUARD

One of the duties we do is when our Color Guard performs with our Colors to lead in the Special Olympics Contestants twice a year, the first was inside Sports at McCallie Gym with about 600 participants from the entire state of Tennessee, on March 19.  The next event is Track and Field Competition April 24 at 10:00 AM. Our Posts supports these events by a donation and our Auxiliary and Legion members passing out small American Flags.  Our Color Guard will stand tall and lead the parade. Members of Post 95 and the CAVC, come on down and support our “Special Olympics.”
