COMMANDER’S CORNER

  My appreciation goes out to all Legionnaires for the turnout on nomination night. I feel we have made some very good selections for officers for the year 1999-2000. For those who were not present the nominations are:

For Vice Commander: Don Uhl, Fred Stafford, Harold Seals, Melvin Brown;

For the Executive Committee: Ernest Gilliam, Avery Keesee, Richard Cook, Kenneth Wild, Frank Baskette;

For Commander: Jim Ratcliffe.

The month of May will have many events for all to be aware of: Mothers Day, Armed Forces Day Parade and Memorial Day Observance.

All members who have not renewed their membership, need to do so "NOW."

For God and Country.

Ken Wild, Commander

AUXILIARY NEWS

  May is Poppy Month give a donation to the poppy fund. If you are not able to help by working at one of the locations set up by the poppy chairman, you can help by sending in a donation. You can mail it to the auxiliary at P.O. Box 91202 East Ridge, TN 37412 or leave it at the post. May is also report time so if you have a report to send in it needs to be in by the 10th of May. Memorial Day will also be this month. Make plans now to attend the parade downtown and the services at the National Cemetery. The picnic will also be held at the legion. Also remember our men and women serving in the armed forces and keep them in your prayers. The new officers will be taking over in July. You may be asked to serve on a committee. We need everyone to help with the work of the auxiliary. The state convention will be in June Make your plans to attend this event and see what is going on in the department. All officers are asked to bring your handbook to the next board meeting as these belong to the auxiliary and must be turned in so they can be given to the new officers.
