Commander's Corner

I would like to thank everyone for all your support, and in making me your Commander for the 1999-2000 year. I look forward to the coming year and serving as your Commander. I think we have dedicated people in place to make this a very successful year at Post 95. I would also like to thank Kenneth Wild, and all those who worked so hard during this past year. Let’s keep working together to make Post 95 the best it can be.

Don't forget about the 4th of July picnic in the recreation area which begins at 5 PM. Booths will be set up at the entrance for you to renew your dues. So, renew your dues before you enjoy all the good food! I look forward to seeing you there.

For God and Country
Jim Ratcliffe, Commande

Membership Report

This year on the Legion membership we did not make our goal. This is the first time that we did not make our goal in 17 years. We have 1,312 members signed up and renewed for 1999. Let's all work together for the year 2000 in getting our goal for membership.

Cathy Brown, Adjutant 265-1610

Baseball Report

The 1999 American Legion baseball team is off to a very good start this year with an 8 and 2 record. So far we have played in 2 tournaments and won 1, the Battlefield Classic. The support we have received from the members is appreciated and is greatly needed for the future games and tournaments. Schedules for our remaining games are posted at the Legion and are available to take home. The new Post 95 baseball caps are also here. The cost per hat is $15. Ask the bartenders for more information.

Douglas Alt, Baseball Chairman

Auxiliary News

We are now entering the Auxiliary's new year. I do promise with the help of all the Auxiliary members we will have a great year. I can't do this all by myself. I'm counting on everyone for their help this year.

A special thank you to Jo Bridges for a great job she has done for the past two years. I just hope I can do as well.

Well, convention time is over and I hope everyone had a good time. We will have all the membership news in the next newsletter. Please don't forget that our big membership drive starts at the July 4th picnic. Please pay your dues at this time and be an early bird. Dot Stewart is our membership chair person and will have a table set up at the front gate. Dues are $15.00 for senior members and $3.00 for juniors.

We will not have an Auxiliary picnic this year, but we are planning something special for the members instead. We will post the time and date in the lounge.

I would like to invite all members to attend the meetings every 4th Thursday of each month.

Board Meeting July 14, 7 PM

Covered Dish July 22, 7 PM

Regular Meeting July 22, 8 PM

Geraldine Perkins, Auxiliary President

P.S. The last newsletter stated dues were $20. This should have said your 2000 dues (dues for the year 2000).

Honor Guard News

I want to give our Color Guard and Honor Guard team a great big 'THANK YOU' for the extra effort and dedication for the services performed for Post 95. We should be proud for the many Color Guard functions and funerals we have done this past year. Also, thanks to the Commander and the Executive Board for their support.

I have been asked to continue in 1999 and 2000 and with the support will make an effort.

Ralph C. Wilson
Honor Guard Commander 866-0138
