Ralph
Astin, CAVC Chairman Dec. 14, 1995 To: All 1995 Armed Forces Day Parade Committee Members The
1995 Armed Forces Day Parade was a great success because of you and the
combined efforts of the committee you served on.
You were one of the volunteers who came in when everyone said the
parade wouldn’t be held. Together
we proved it could be done. The
Chattanooga Area Veterans Council very much appreciates your untiring
efforts from the first meeting until the final vehicle and march went down
Market Street. Now
we’re ready to go again. And
we need you. The
1995 Armed Forces Day Parade was a celebration of the Fiftieth Anniversary
of the end of World War II. This
year we will go back to having a host service.
We need an early start to avoid the last minute strain of the past
parade. A
meeting will be held to begin preparations for the 1996 Armed Forces Day
Parade on Thursday, January 11, at noon at VFW Post 4848, 1491 Riverside
Dr. in Chattanooga. Parade
committee chairpersons will be named and committees will be established to
get the work underway. We
count on your help and know you won’t let the military, our veterans and
our community down. Please
make every effort to be there. If
there are any problems, please contact me. Bill
