Zach Wamp speaker

Veterans Day was observed Nov. 11 at National Cemetery with nearly 800 present to hear the keynote address by Rep. Zach Wamp.

American Legion Post 95's band gave the musical prelude beginning at 10:30 AM.  Their post was the host with coordination by the Chattanooga Area Veterans Council.

Post 95 Commander Charles Bates was master of ceremonies with invocation by Larry Wirth.  Ralph Wilson commanded the CAVC Honor Guard to post the Colors.  Dan Loving handled massing of the colors.

National Anthem was sung by Katie Parks with musical accompaniment by Jim Wilson. Jim King led in the Pledge of Allegiance and cemetery Director Candice Underwood gave the welcome. Carl Levi introduced Rep. Wamp.

Among the recognized participants was Edith Whitman, former president of the National World War I Auxiliary.  She said she was 88 years old and weighed 88 pounds, with her new heart pacemaker.
