Gore Rocks with the Best of 'Em

The walls are gonna shake, rattle and roll at Radio City Music Hall come September 14 when the Democratic National Committee hosts a rock concert for the ages.

Sheryl Crow, Macy Gray and Lenny Kravitz are a few of the headliners performing to help raise funds for the DNC and Vice President Gore's Presidential coffer.

Rolling Stone's founder and editor-in-chief, Jann Wenner, is sponsoring this musical extravaganza. Also crooning at this gala -- Bette Midler, Jon Bon Jovi, the Eagles, Crosby Stills, Nash and Jimmy Buffett.

From Chili to Tofu

The facade is still there, but Bob Hope's booth is gone forever--or is it!

The legendary Chasen's restaurant shut its doors in April 1995, but the front door is actually still there.

Located in Beverly Hills on Beverly Boulevard, Chasen's served up hobo steaks, creamed spinach and, yes, that famous chili to their just as famous clientele for almost 60 years. A demolition crew took over a few months ago, but lo and behold, the facade of the building remains to embrace it's new storefront -- Bristol Farms, an upscale "super market."

OK, now you are wondering - what's this about Bob Hope's booth?

Well, a couple of months ago, a local restaurateur bought up a bunch of Chasen's furnishings at an auction including six original booths christened with the name of the restaurant's regulars--Fred Astaire, Spencer Tracy, Bob Hope, Edward G. Robinson, Alice Faye and Pat O'Brien.

Now who is this mysterious restaurateur and where is all this Chasen memorabilia?

More next time.

Meanwhile, back in Manhattan, Woody Allen nabbed Hunt to star in his next film due to start filming in the Big Apple this September.

The Magnificent Ambersons - the Mini Series?

Orson Welles' classic 1942 film, The Magnificent Ambersons, is coming to the "small screen."

RKO is pairing with A&E cable network to produce a four-hour miniseries based on the Booth Tarkington novel. In 1942, studio executives at RKO cut 40 minutes out of Orson Welles' film about the plight of a fading American aristocracy set in the 18th century. The production company plans to use Welles' original script of as a guideline.

The telefilm stars Madeleine Stowe, Jennifer Tilly, Jonathan Rhys-Myers, Gretchen Mol. Shooting begins later this month in Dublin, Ireland.

Matriz Hits the Top of the Charts

Strange Bedfellows

As the Democrats invade Hollywood, the Daily Variety reports few in tinsel town are protesting Al Gore's choice in a running mate. But they have good reason.

Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) has long been highly critical of the entertainment industry.

According to Daily Variety, Senator Lieberman told a Daily Variety reporter that, "Friends" should be relegated to latenight because of their raciness.

Lieberman brings with him a long laundry list of Hollywood do's and don'ts.

Dateline Hollywood will cover the Democratic National Convention and all the trimmings commencing Monday night at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles.

Haunted Hollywood

Things that go bump in the night are not limited to the big screen -- hits like The Blair Witch Project, The Sixth and What Lies Beneath take our breath away, but it doesn't compare to the REAL GHOSTS OF HOLLYWOOD.
