CBS SURVIVOR RATINGS

According to CBS, approximately 72 million viewers huddled around their sets to watch the two-hour finale of the modern-day castaways.

The winning survivor, Richard Hatch, was set to appear on MTV's Video Music Awards in September.

And be on the lookout for "Survivor: The Ultimate Game" at bookstands in September. The book will relate the story of the band of participants and dishes advice to future castaways. The book was written by the show's executive producer, Mark Burnett with adventure writer, Martin Dugard.

MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS CELEBRATES WITH BIG NAMES

I guess no one who's on top in the pop music world has a concert on Thursday, September 7.

Jennifer Lopez, Pink Tenacious D, Bono, Lenny Kravitz, LL Cool J,

Christina Aguilera, Sisqo, DMX, Red Hot Chili Peppers, NSYNC, Britney Spears and Janet Jackson will be on stage performing while Jennifer Lopez, Kid Rock, Jakob Dylan, LL Cool J, , Bono and Macy Gray will be presenters at MTV's 17th Annual Awards show.

Hosted by the Wayans brothers, Shawn and Marlon, the "2000 MTV Video Music Awards" will broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Also look for Ricky Martin, Snoop Dogg, Sting, U2s Bono and Metallica's Lars Urlich, Destiny's Child, Lenny Kravitz, Pink, Moby and Survivor's Million-Dollar Man, Richard Hatch, shouting, "and the MTV Award goes to..."

PAM TILLIS JOINS THE GRAND OLE OPREY

Country western singer Pam Tillis was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry family.

Visiting her official web site at www.pamtillis.com, she said upon hearing the news, "Let me think about it--yes!!" Tillis responded. "This is a special night. This is a life long dream to join. I want to send thanks to Dad and God."

The Grand Ole Oprey was founded in Nashville on November 28, 1925, by George D Hay, as a country music showcase. Hay himself once likened the Opry as music that "...sends forth the aroma of bacon and eggs frying on the kitchen stove on a bright spring morning."

By the way, Mel Tillis, Tillis' father, is not member of the Opry.

Tina Sinatra's biography about her father, Frank Sinatra, is due on bookshelves in December. Published by Simon and Schuster, this is first book written by one of Sinatra's children.

USO STILL SERVING UP HOT ENTERTAINMENT TO TROOPS OVERSEAS

So, how did Little Feat get their name. According to their website, "The late Lowell George had unusually little, fat feet and Jimmy Carl Black of The Mothers happened to make mention of them to Lowell with an expletive. Lowell deleted the expletive and the name was born with Feat instead of Feet just like the Beatles, neat huh?"

RICKI LAKE JOINS CAST OF THE KING OF QUEENS

Talk show maven Ricki Lake will go back to her roots -- acting -- as an occasional guest on CBS's hit comedy, The King of Queens. Lake will play the sister of Doug (Kevin James).

KENNY LOGGINS POUNDS THE PAVEMENT

CELEBRITY DIRT

Esai Morales, fresh from the DNC, recently became a first-time homebuyer.

Morales, star of "La Bamba" and the upcoming "The Elian Gonzales Story" for Fox Family Channel, purchased a home in the Hollywood Hills.

Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen have rented a Malibu house. Danson, here filming his CBS sitcom, Becker, and his wife, Academy Award winning actress, Mary Steenbergen, took out a three-month lease for the 1930 beachside home.

SAG TAKES CARE OF ITS OWN

The Screen Actors Guild announced a $500,000 national strike relief fund for striking commercial actors

The pledge includes a $10,000 promise in assistance from the AFL-CIO for a food bank operation in Los Angeles.

Many actors have been out of work since the commercial strike began back in May of this year.
