COMMANDERS CORNER

Our Post will host the Veteran’s Day memorial at the National Cemetery on November 11, 2000 at 11 AM. The guest speaker will be General William B. Raines, Retired U.S. Army Reserve. We would like to have a good number of our members attend.

Our family dinners will be starting again. Please try to attend and enjoy the fellowship and festivities.

The horse shoes are now available for your enjoyment. See the bartender to check them out. We need to start getting ready to play against other post.

We now have two picnic tables. The weather is nice so come out and enjoy our river view. The bar-b-que grill will be moved to this area and can be used.

We need help with our community service projects and other VFW programs. We are having problems getting volunteers to help with programs such as Buddy Poppy and Operation Stand Down. Our VFW stands for more than a free meal and drinks. With your help our post can continue to grow and be the best it can be. Please help us by giving your time to our many projects.

Please notify the Post Chaplain Tommy Duckworth, of any Post member who is sick, or in the hospital.

Tommy can be reached at 894-8389.

David H. Wilson,

Commander

COOTIE NEWS

Cootie Commander Bill Bordwine extends many thanks to the Cootie men and Cootie Auxiliary who with a lot of hard work made the Grand C. O. A. meeting held in Chattanooga September 28-29th the best ever. Visitors who attended had nothing but praise for the meeting place and the great banquet plus the fellowship.

With Christmas and Thanksgiving coming up soon, Cooties will be busy with Hospital visits, bell ringing and Buddy Poppy drives.

Cooties will be glad to know that as of January 1, 2001, you will be able once more to buy a lifetime membership in the Cootie order. The Supreme Council of Administration approved this October 9, 2000 at their meeting. Those who are not life members this is your chance to get one. Remember you must be a VFW life member first.

Bea Cook MOCA president is now back home after being in the hospital. Everyone is thankful for here recovery

AUXILIARY NEWS

Dear Sisters,

We need your help. Our Auxiliary is currently the largest in the third district . We need you to pay your 2001 dues so that we can maintain that status and be 100 percent by December 31.

Our state member ship must be at eighty five percent by December 31, for our State President Brenda Price to have her night on the town at the mid-year conference in March.

It was just last March when Brenda was attending the mid-year that she became ill. Let’s help to make this years meeting a happy one for her by paying our membership.

Thanks to all of you who have already done this.

Please try to attend our monthly membership meeting on the first Thursday of each month.

We will look forward to seeing you there.

Mary Anne Wilson,

Auxiliary Secretary

Oscar Is Begging Again

Our membership has slowed down. We have about seven weeks to January 1, 2001. Please pay your 2001 dues as soon as possible.

A list of those who have not paid their 1999 or 2000 dues will be posted in the lobby. These members will be dropped from membership as of January 2001.

I have a list of things we need for the Christmas baskets. Most of all I need a list of the people who plan to help with this project.

Comrades I need your help.

Oscar Farrow

Sr. Vice Commander
